Symptoms of Panic Attacks and How to Stop Them

Treatments for Panic Attacks

These days, many people live under constant fear of when their next panic attack will occur. Those who suffer from this condition and its attacks can be suddenly overtaken by it at anytime.

Symptoms that Panic attack causes can include:

·         Pressure in the chest

·         High heartbeat

·         Dizziness

·         Sweating and hot flashes

·         Unexplainable feelings of discomfort, embarrassment, or even dread over ordinary things in life.

·         Hands feeling numb

·         Difficulty breathing

And the most dreadful of them all…

·         A fear of dying or having a heart attack

Even though in the sufferer’s mind the bad experience is unconsciously blown way out of proportion and sometimes is not even related with what is actually occurring, the sheer terror is real for them nevertheless.  Thus, this should never be dismissed as just somebody’s imagination.  That type of belief is very insensitive, and will only make things worse on the individual.

What is a panic attack – some additional information:

·         They are normally brief and last for less than ten minutes.

·         When they happen on a frequent basis, the condition is usually referred to as “panic disorder”.

·         Women are twice as likely as men to develop this condition.

·         Panic disorder affects approximately 2.5 to 3 million people in the US alone.

What causes a panic attack?

The causes of this condition aren’t 100% clear.  For some people it can be triggered by a major event in life, such as a new baby, new job, marital changes, and so forth.  For others, it could be major, yet general, stress factors in life.  There are also those who Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

When repetition is involved, symptoms of a panic attack become harder to overcome.  That person starts feeling a tendency to avoid the situations that set the attacks off.  In some cases even, this can even spiral all the way up to developing a real phobia, which triggers a new attack simply out of fear of having to face that phobia. In the more severe stages, this can make an individual even afraid of stepping out of the house.

New options for treatment

There are some well known traditional suggestions around for panic and/or anxiety attacks where treatment is concerned.  Some people may even regain a better outlook of life through them, while others don’t see any change at all in their condition.  In some instances, the ending result only included partial improvement.

This is where natural methods of treating panic attacks come in.  The trick is to encourage the sufferers not to run away from the attacks, but to face them and observe them!  In fact, one new approach is to have the sufferer go after the attacks and ASK them to occur!

Why would anyone want to do that?

The idea is to start getting used to the attacks and then changing the way you react to them by realizing that you really CAN deal with the episodes!  You can go through the attacks bravely and come out in one piece, and then go on back to your daily routine.  As a result of this, you gradually become less fearful and even more comfortable with the passing anxious or panicky thoughts until the point where they have no power over you at all!

Of course, there are details that need to be worked out, but the idea is that your own reaction is what defines the anxiety panic attacks symptoms for you.  You need to learn how to take control, once and for all, so that you can get back to your former self again!
