For instance, it causes physiological symptoms that warn you to either fight or flee in dangerous situations, such as running away from a wild, hungry animal. Anxiety can also help you perform a lot better.   For example, you may feel anxious before an exam, which will result in you staying alert so that you can do your best. Situations such as these are natural and normal, and don’t necessarily call for treatments for anxiety.   

 

If, however, anxiety is interfering with your everyday life, and as a result you feel as if you are not getting anything done with work or school, then perhaps you should consider getting help for it.  You may also be feeling extreme anxiety over relationships with friends, family, and your spouse.  Many times you may find yourself feeling anxious for prolonged periods.

What Causes Anxiety Disorders and Anxiety Attacks? 

 

 

Anxiety can be part of your biochemical or genetic make-up.  It could also be part of your personality.  There are so many different things that can trigger anxiety and anxiety disorders, such as stressful situations, the environment that you’re exposed to at work, home, and/or school, trauma, familial problems, and so forth. 

 

Anxiety disorder causes 

 

 

Some of the causes are believed to be: 

 

·         Genetics –a history of anxiety problems or attacks within your own family 

·         Stressful or traumatic event – This could also include a chain of events such as ongoing bullying, abuse, death, family conflict, relationship problems, etc. 

·         Biochemical – When certain chemicals in the brain are out of balance, you can have feelings and physical reactions that will alter your emotions and thoughts. 

·         Personality type – Some people with certain personality types are more at risk for anxiety than others.  

 

Some symptoms of anxiety disorder 

 

 

The symptoms vary from one person to the next.  It all depends on your own circumstances.  There is plenty of information online that will help you determine what symptoms are associated with your anxiety disorder and how to get help for them. 

 

Getting the help that you need 

 

 

There are many treatments for the different types of anxiety disorders.  It would be a smart idea to research the disorder and symptoms that are relevant to you then arrange to see your physician or therapist.  They should help you understand the different ways for treating anxiety disorders.  

 

 You can also learn about what options are available to you and how to best approach them.  Try to remember that managing your anxiety may take some time and effort, and that there will be some good days and bad days.  You are not alone, nor will you ever be.   It is possible to resolve your anxiety disorder and to stop having attacks.  Help and support is out there.
